Where to get your Ijen health certificate in Banyuwangi
Every visitor to Kawah Ijen needs an Ijen health certificate. Since January 2024, the park authority (BBKSDA East Java) requires a doctor-signed medical certificate, checked at the Paltuding gate when you exchange your online booking for a ticket. Good to know before you hike Ijen
- Bring your passport (or Indonesian ID) and make sure the certificate is issued within 3 days of your visit date.
- People with heart disease, asthma, respiratory infections or other breathing problems are not advised to hike. Our doctor will give you an honest assessment.
- Kawah Ijen closes for clean-up on the first Friday of every month and may close at short notice for weather, volcanic activity or forest fires. Always check the status before you go.
- Tickets are booked online through the official national park booking app or website and exchanged at Paltuding with your health certificate.
